As we adapt to the growth of international streaming services and take steps to reform broadcasting legislation, Canada and other jurisdictions around the world are grappling with the central question of how to modernize their definition of “national content” for a global marketplace. The CMF recently launched an industry-wide consultation to spark a meaningful conversation on this very question in the context of Bill C-11.

As part of this initiative, Prime Time is hosting a fireside chat between Screen Australia’s Graeme Mason and the CMF’s Valerie Creighton, both strong advocates for homegrown content in their respective countries, to discuss the shared challenges and opportunities facing the funds they represent and the domestic production sectors they serve as we adapt to unprecedented change.
