Information
Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) is a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting Northern Ontario’s vibrant film industry. We empower creators and crew by offering free consultations, managing resources, and developing programs that help northern productions thrive.
CION staff are experienced in all stages of production and versed in the advantages that Northern Ontario offers. Our consultations facilitate the exploration and engagement of locations, infrastructure, workforce, and financial incentives that amplify storytelling.
Through our Film & TV Project Pitch Exchange – a free-to-join production development program – we connect camera-ready projects with regional contacts who provide solutions to script-specific needs. And thanks to ongoing support from the Ontario Film Commission and our partners across the region, we coordinate in-person location tours with experienced Scouts for more in-depth discovery and inspiration.
Our comprehensive Crew Database is a one-stop resource for hiring established artists and technicians from within the region to help save on labour costs while developing a strong workforce at local levels, and our Regional Resources catalogue can help you track down service providers who are ready to jump in.
In lockstep with a growing network of film-friendly partners, we have contributed to the successes of some of Canada’s most loved TV series, including New Metric Media’s side-splitting SHORESY and the upcoming I KILL THE BEAR, CBC sensations SKYMED and ESSEX COUNTY, as well as acclaimed feature films like Gail Maurice’s BLOOD LINES and Emma Higgins’ SWEETNESS.
CION continues to help producers find their northern advantage. Click through to learn more: http://cionorth.ca/film
